If I could breathe feelings into your soul

If I could drink peace from the depths of the earth

I would try to convey the longings of my soul

If I knew forever by the beat of your heart

As I swallow the bittersweet remnants

Of what could have been, but never will be

I am reassured

Of nothing

But the fickleness of humanity

My disgust is your mistrust.

If you drank the sorrow pouring from my heart

Could feel the weight of the pain in our breath

You would find how intricately

Fragile we are.

Unapologies-Sarah’s Journaling Assignment

Who What When Where Why

The five W's. These are imperative in writing, especially creative writing. Whether it's building characters, setting, rising action, or conflict, these concepts are always at play. These same concepts are also important to consider as you are deciding who you want to be and what you want to do with your life. Today, you have an assignment that's a non-assignment. Freewrite today. Just keep these five words in mind.

Who What When Where Why [I want to be]

  • Strong
  • Beautiful
  • Real
  • True
  • Calm
  • Open
  • Refuge
  • Joyful
  • Not dying inside
  • Alive
  • Soaking the marrow out of life (who said that?)
  • Living intentionally
  • Loving and loved
  • Unfinished
  • A perpetually improving work in progress
  • Growing
  • Alive
  • Alive
  • ALIVE
  • unafraid

Frappuccino How You Always

Frappuccino how you always

Pick me up when I'm

Down in the dumps

Frappuccino how you always

Brighten my cloudy days

With your cooling goodness

Frappuccino how you always

Bring bittersweet redemption

From the 2pm slump

Frappuccino how you always

Have a new trick up your sleeve

Brownie java chip? Yes please!

Venti double triple

mocha whippa frappuccino

extra caramel, extra whip, lite blended coffee

Frappuccino how you never

Last long enough, no matter how

I try to stretch you out

Until

You're

All

Gone.

[Epilogue]

a hot vapor released

into crystallized metaphor

grazing the horizon

of disinterested desire

enshrouded in shadowlands

re-entangling disjointed pain

you gaze upon the breaking point—

of grace

of hurt

of love

of joy

of pain

speak to me your sonnets

of grace, love, and beauty

drive my hardened heart

dying faith, hope, and need

someone needs renewal

we are starving and scraping

gaping, escaping, breaking

breaking our own hearts

a narrative beats, reaps,

pumps, slams, gives

distributing life, giving

sustenance—awake.

Open your eyes.

Live your life.

Darkness enshrouding

Bittersweet nothings

Of who I am

And who we are

Unfunded deframed desire

Shadowing sidelined interests

Disregarding unfounded need

And I'm stuck to clean it up.

Updates!

Hello all,

So I have been terrible about keeping things updated, and I want to let you all know that I am terribly sorry. I just finished the most difficult 2 semesters of my life, and now that I have more free time to figure out my career, it's imperative that I focus more on writing. So, I'm posting a few things I've been working on lately. Thanks for your patience and enjoy!

Peace

25 things that SUCK

So for all those who don't know yet, Hannah is awesome, and inspired me awesomely. And I just kind of went for it. So here is a VERY rough 1st draft. I think this will be a journal entry and/or class writing assignment. Hope you enjoy!

25 things that SUCK
By Sarah Palmer

  1. Weston
  2. Having English with Weston
  3. Being stuck working on the R & J project with Weston
  4. Weston thinking we're friends
  5. Having to see the pity in Weston's eyes after he realized how much fixing my car cost
  6. People still believing that rumor he spread about me and Kenny that started this whole thing
  7. The fact that he didn't press charges when I backed into him because I could have pressed charges about the rumor and stuck him on the sex offender's list for life. Ok that's not so bad. Leverage. Have it.
  8. Holly being gone
  9. Lyle being the only one that matters because I'm "grown up"
  10. Mom never talking about it
  11. Holding it all inside
  12. Making varsity for soccer and then feeling like a benchwarmer except every now and then when Jess can't play for some reason.
  13. Having no friends
  14. Wondering where to sit at lunch when you're invisible
  15. Never knowing if it was because of me
  16. Feeling like it was my fault anyway
  17. The way mom gazes out the window when she dries the dishes after dinner. For a moment, she isn't mom. She is just Jacqueline. And she inhabits a faraway place that involves a man that she loves. And her eyes get misty and when I ask her what she's thinking about she always shakes it off and pretends she doesn't know what I'm talking about. I want to go to that place. I want to live in the dreamland where he's still here. Where it never happened. I hate that mom is so greedy that she won't share our imaginary happily ever after.
  18. Staying up past midnight studying and still feeling like it's not enough
  19. Feeling like I'm always on overdrive
  20. Football
  21. Quarterbacks
  22. Styling Wax
  23. Old Spice
  24. Starbucks
  25. Weston
